Ten Rules For Brilliant Women by Tara Mohr

Ten Rules For Brilliant Women by Tara Mohr

I coach brilliant women, lots of them. Dedicated, talented, brilliant women. Most of the time, they don’t know their brilliance. They are certain they “aren’t ready” to take on that next bigger role. They are more attuned to the ways they aren’t qualified than to the ways that they are. They are waiting for someone to validate, promote or discover them. Sound familiar?

It’s time to step up, brilliant women. Here are ten principles for owning your brilliance and bringing it to the world.

The Farmer's Market Is My Pharmacy

The Farmer's Market Is My Pharmacy

Imagine a world where instead of heading to the doctor’s office or the nearest over-the-counter aisle once a bad cold set in, we turned instead to the local farmer’s market. Imagine we carried with us our grandmothers’ knowledge of how to heal without drugs. That we were taught that thyme clears up congestion; that raw garlic boosts our immunity; and that ginger fights infections. Imagine if instead of suppressing our congestion and headaches with cold medicine we allowed ourselves to be sick and rest and sip healing teas and broths. Imagine a world where illness is accepted and we bow graciously to the need for convalescence.

An Interview with Two Amazing Biz Partners: On How They've Grown at The Hivery

An Interview with Two Amazing Biz Partners: On How They've Grown at The Hivery

At The Hivery we nurture women at different stages of their business or creative pursuit from turning an idea into a reality through to growing and scaling an established business. Two of our members Sophie Davies and Jenni Heffernan Brown are good examples of how The Hivery have supported them as business partners and helped them move into the next level of running Prim’d Marketing. I sat down with them to ask them more about how they use The Hivery, how they collaborate with the member community and how this has been a vital aspect to the launch of their new website.

Are You Denying Your Desire To Write? A Guest Post by Samantha Wallen

Are You Denying Your Desire To Write? A Guest Post by Samantha Wallen

The biggest desire that most of my clients have is the desire to write a book (or several for that matter). Most know for certain that they’ve always had an interest in or love of writing but they can’t seem to find the time or motivation to do it, or they worry that they are not  “real” writers because they have never been published.

Often hidden within that desire is another desire to not only write the book(s), but to make it onto the NY Times Best Seller list and be launched into a world of fame and fortune. Guest appearance on Super Soul Sunday anyone?

The Hivery Showcases Local Women Artists

The Hivery Showcases Local Women Artists

The Hivery is delighted to have the opportunity to showcase art in our space by local, women artists. These artists infuse our space with creativity, beauty, and are a wonderful example of women expressing themselves and creating. We are honored to have Lucie Charkin, a Hivery member with a strong background in visual arts and art consulting, leading our rotating art program. We wanted to take a moment to chat with her about women artists, what creativity does for our work and lives, and how she’s integrated art into her business.

What If I Don't Know What I Want To Do?

What If I Don't Know What I Want To Do?

At The Hivery, we talk a lot about cultivating what’s next for women. We provide programs and workspace for women to explore their next career, start their own business, or create work that works in their lives. I’m in the lucky position of getting to hear from women on what inspires us, and also what scares or stops us from doing work we truly want to do.

One barrier that I heard recently was, “What if I truly don’t know what I want to do? What if I don’t know my passion?”…I thought and thought about this question. And then it occurred to me….I just don’t buy it.

On Not Being Ready

On Not Being Ready

This post comes from a different place than what I've posted to the blog, thus far. This post came from a physical sensation...a fire in my belly, if you will.

I am so lucky and fortunate to get to talk to talented, intelligent, vibrant, creative women all day long. Most days, I can't believe this is my work, and everyday I'm astounded by the stories, convictions, passions, bravery, heartbreak, and strength of the women that I'm connected to through The Hivery. I see first-hand the creative process, grit, ups/downs, and collaborative spirit. I am so buoyantly uplifted by women supporting each other, and it is the depth of this potential that keeps me endlessly motivated to build the best Hivery I can.

Hivery Collaborations: Riva Letterpress and Hi5 Studio

The Hivery attracts women with similar energy, passion, and goals to either take an idea and make it a reality, or build a business or endeavor to the next level. Both require stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new creative things to cultivate growth within yourself.

This is happening at The Hivery everyday, and we are constantly amazed at how that growth accelerates for women that support each other. We wanted to share some of the exciting collaborations that happen between Hivery members, and the magic that happens when they come together to make beautiful things.

Magic That Happens At The Hivery

Magic That Happens At The Hivery

At The Hivery our members can announce their successes on The Victory Board (you may have seen some on our Instagram under hashtag #thehivery). But we also wanted to share these victories with the whole community and explain how The Hivery inspires it's members in so many different ways.

A perfect example of this magic is this wonderful email I recently received from Hivery member, Meghen Kurtzig. Meghen is a speculative fiction writer who is working on her first novel, and uses her time at The Hivery as her writing time and inspiration zone.

Staying Loose To Achieve Success - A Guest Post By Johanna Beyer

Staying Loose To Achieve Success - A Guest Post By Johanna Beyer

Over the summer, I had the good fortune to take a tennis class to learn new things about a game I love. I went into it all ready to show the instructor my wicked ground strokes! I clenched down, gripped the racket and literally tried to kill the ball. After about 75% of my shots went into the net or way outside the lines, I got frustrated. What the hell was going on? During a break I asked the instructor what she thought the problem was. She immediately told me that I was working way too hard. My grip was too tight and I was losing all my power with my supposedly intense stroke.

Personal Branding - The Product Of You

Personal Branding - The Product Of You

At The Hivery we believe it takes a village to produce awesome content on our new blog. I would like to invite our members to use this blog platform to help others by sharing your expertise and resources through guest posts. I would like to start off by sharing a two part guest post I did on members Sophie Davies and Jenni Brown's Prim'd Marketing blog on a topic near and dear to my heart....the product of you. This blog post walks you through the process I use in my workshops for pinpointing what you want to do and conveying it clearly and authentically.

Easy is good.

Easy is good.

Often when we’re inventorying our skills, knowledge, and what we have to offer this big, crazy world, we focus on the things we’d like to improve. The things that are a struggle for us, the things we should fix. And, we can easily gloss over and de-value the things that come easy to us.

When friends fawn over how well we can organize a trip, clean a closet, whip up dinner, or create a budget, we brush it off and say, “It’s no big deal”. Then we continue our personal inventory of the places we are lacking, the things we don’t know, the skills that have fallen behind.

Leap after leap, in the dark

Leap after leap, in the dark

If I've learned one thing at The Hivery, it's that small actions matter. And, they matter big time. Sometimes all that is holding us back is a fear of taking even the smallest step, for fear we fall.

I know I've hid behind my fears before...making excuses like, "I'm too busy." or "I should be focusing on other things." or "I'll get to this when things settle down with my kids." or "This isn't the right time for me.".
