Join us for an evening of mingling, cocktails, and enjoying one of our favorite artists (and our first "Hivery Artist"!), Amanda Reeves.
A statement from the Artist:
These paintings are the result of my obsession with color and pattern and the emotional responses they can evoke. The work invites the viewer to engage in the slow contemplation of looking and feeling, of being absorbed by the paintings. With meticulous preparation, the varied layers of acrylic wash stand as a modulating visual ground for the precise geometric shapes overlaid. The flatness of the overlaid shapes is influenced by the flat patterning of visual information that surrounds us every day, the reduction of systems of data compressed to two dimensions on screens and in graphics. Yet the paintings are not intended to be read and understood, but to elicit a response, to draw out the sensation of a memory and allow the embrace of beauty.
