Marin Fashion Academy
My name is Western Bonime and I am passionate about teaching fashion design to young people in ways that inspire creativity and empower their ideas to come to life. I have always viewed fashion as a language. We communicate so much about ourselves through color, shape and texture which is why fashion is an amazing medium for teaching young women not only how to work with their hands and be creative, but to build self-confidence. My techniques are a combination of compassionate teaching and exciting projects that stimulate ideas and open students to possibilities. I’ve been in design for 15+ years, first as a student at Parsons in New York, then working for New York firms, teaching at Parsons and the Academy of Art and working for WGSN as a trend reporter in Europe. I believe that learning to design is one of the most important things kids can learn. It will strengthen their skills in all areas of life because it teaches creative problem solving which encourages proactive rather than reactive thinking which sets people up for success. At Marin Fashion Academy, we offer tons of variety, hundreds of high end materials and a high staff to student ration along with unique, always new themes and projects along with lots of freedom to encourage the richest experience of design possible. Teaching is my passion and pleasure to bring to kids in Marin.
