Creativity Circle: The Science of Sharing Through The Lens of Cognitive Science

The Science of Sharing through the Lens of Cognitive Science

Join us for an opportunity to explore your creativity in community! The Creativity Circle, held the first Thursday of every month, features guest creatives, artists, writers, designers, and makers who will inspire you to explore your inner artist within the walls of The Hivery's Creative Studio. This month, we're thrilled to welcome back the co-founders of Moxie Road Productions Janine Kovac and Tarja Parssinen.

In this creative session, Janine Kovac and Tarja Parssinen will be teaching us about The Science of Sharing through the Lens of Cognitive Science.

Collaboration and inclusivity are valuable tools in today’s creative workplace. But unfortunately, much of our messaging uses dated, hierarchical, winner-take-all narratives, which actually leads the brain astray. If you’re seeking the right goal but with the wrong road map, you’ll never arrive.

That’s where cognitive sciences comes in.

This discipline—an intersection of linguistics, anthropology, neuroscience, psychology, and computer science—is the study of how we think. Cognitive linguistics analyzes the ways in which language molds our thought patterns and influences brainstorming and creativity.

Learn basic facts about the brain that demonstrate the link between language and motivation and which problem-solving strategies evoke joy, altruism, gratitude, and kindness.

These simple strategies are catalysts that will promote a cooperative spirit rather a competitive one, stimulate abundance over scarcity, and evoke courage instead of fear.

The Science of Sharing teaches basic and easy-to-learn principles from cognitive science that audience members will find intuitively logical.

Key takeaways from this workshop will include:

• Listen to and interpret the creative unconscious
• Identify fear-based narratives and transform them into inspirational roadmaps
• Recognize which colleagues are collaborative soulmates
• Cultivate a healthy work environment that spawns and sustains creativity

As seats are limited, advance online registration is required. Free for members. $30 for non-members. All are welcome!
