The Inspiration Circle is a facilitated group session all about personal development, discovery and exploration. Join us to connect with fellow members and come together in a welcoming group setting! This monthly event is a great opportunity to share motivation, ideas, coaching, and mentorship.
On January 24th, we are excited to welcome Daphne de Marneffe PhD, therapist and author of new book The Rough Patch: Marriage and the Art of Living Together, and Maternal Desire: On Children, Love, and the Inner Life to The Hivery. Daphne will being talking to us about how to have authentic communication with those around us particularly when it comes to hard conversations.
In the effort to juggle our many roles, sometimes we can feel like we're losing ourselves. And sometimes nurturing others can come at the cost of providing for our own needs. This workshop will help participants develop a powerful method for talking about almost anything with the important people in their lives.
What makes for truly effective, authentic, and fulfilling communication? Research shows that the most important factors all have to do with emotions: how we tune into them, experience them, respond to them, and align them with our larger goals. After presenting the newest science of emotion and relationships and insights from the therapy consulting room, Daphne will guide participants in discussion and experiential learning about the following topics:
• The three key capacities for healthy emotional relating
• The "wonder drug" of intimate conversation
• A step-wise conversational strategy to deal with hard issues
• Ways to assert yourself and be responsive at the same time, in personal and professional relationships
• Techniques for collaborating as parents when you disagree
Key takeaways for participants from this workshop include:
How to identify an important conversation they need to have
How to start having that conversation today
How to continue that conversation, moving toward harmony and connection and away from tension and distance.
This valuable workshop is not to be missed so be sure to grab your seat!
As seats are limited, advance online registration is required. Free for members. $30 for non-members. This is a BYO brown-bag lunch discussion. All are welcome!
