Writer's Circle: Open Mic

WritersCircle_ 20160727-_DSC1760_Square.jpg

Every month The Hivery invites new and established authors to share their wisdom, experiences and resources for writers and non-writers who love books.

In June, it’s OPEN MIC at The Hivery's Writer's Circle! Time to shine! Time to take the stage and bring your writing to an audience. You'll be amazed at the benefits of reading your work aloud: tons of editing will happen beforehand, your writing will increase between now and then, and you'll feel that amazing feeling of expressing yourself in front of a supportive group.

It can be anything from an excerpt of your published or unpublished book or short story, a fresh piece of writing that you write especially for this open mic opportunity, or something like an awesome blog post or newsletter. It's all about you and getting to know you and your work better.

We'll put names in a hat and pull out readers. Slots are 7 minutes long and will be timed.

Let's get to know each other's work in this fun and interactive way. This is not a critique but a celebration! There will only be applause at the end of your reading. Bring something to share to eat or drink if you'd like.

The Writer's Circle is facilitated by Hivery Member, Thais Derich. Thais Derich's memoir—Second Chance: A Mother’s Quest for a Natural Birth after a Cesarean (She Writes Press, May 9, 2017)—was a finalist for the Foreword Reviews' 2017 Book of the Year Award. Second Chance was also a finalist for the Creative Non-Fiction Magazine’s Baby Anthology. Thais is an international writer and public speaker on "Being the Hero of Your Life" and "Seeing Invisible Choices" in childbirth and beyond! She is also the founder of the "Write Your Impact" book program.

As seats are limited, advance online registration is required. Free for members. $30 for non-members. BYO brown-bag lunch discussion.  All are welcome!
