Masterclass: Holding Your Power Responsibly with Jennifer McClanahan
An In-Depth Masterclass Presented by Jennifer McClanahan & The Hivery
Monday, April 20 | 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Location: The Hivery
475 Miller Ave, Suite A, Mill Valley, CA
Power is woven into every relationship. It shows up in how we speak, decide, listen, and belong. Whether or not we see ourselves as “powerful,” we are always shaping the spaces we move through. Yet most of us were never taught how to see power clearly, let alone hold it responsibly.
In this intimate and interactive 2-hour masterclass, Jennifer McClanahan, founder of Leverage to Lead, invites participants to make the invisible visible: the power dynamics shaping our decisions, relationships, and systems often without our awareness.
Designed for leaders, founders, and changemakers who care about integrity and impact, this session explores power through three connected lenses:
Intrapersonal: How our socialization, identity, values, and emotions shape the way we experience and use power
Interpersonal: How power shows up in everyday conversations, feedback, boundaries, and relationships
Systems: How power becomes embedded in roles, norms, and structures and how we can disrupt harmful patterns without opting out or burning out
Rather than treating power as something to avoid, give away, or feel conflicted about, this session reframes power as agency and responsibility, something we all hold, regardless of title.
Through reflection, storytelling, and practical frameworks, participants will build awareness of the often-invisible dynamics shaping their relationships. They will learn how to pause, notice their assumptions, and make values-aligned choices that build trust and share power responsibly, especially when power is uneven.
This masterclass draws on the Power learning block of Leverage to Lead’s ANCHOR program, which supports leaders in developing the inner agility needed to lead in complex environments without losing their humanity. Ultimately, it supports people who want to stay grounded in their values while navigating complexity, difference, and change.
This session is for you if you:
Care deeply about how power impacts belonging and connection
Feel the tension between responsibility and self-doubt
Want to lead in partnership rather than control
Are building organizations, communities, or systems rooted in shared responsibility
You’ll leave with:
A clearer understanding of how power operates in your life and work
Language and frameworks to navigate power dynamics with confidence and care
Tools to lead with both authority and humanity
Greater capacity to build resilient relationships, especially when power is uneven
Power doesn’t disappear when we ignore it. But when we learn to hold it responsibly, it becomes a force for connection, clarity, and collective impact.
